Compact Tractor / Performance Features

Multiple Transmission Options – Compact Tractors

Bobcat® compact tractors offer four different transmission types (available on select models) across the full lineup. So you can select the tractor size and transmission that best fits the work you do on your ranch, farm or acreage. Multiple models offer a standard and optional transmission type.

Generally, select the hydrostatic transmission when you’ll be doing a lot of front-end loader work. They are easier to maneuver when working in small, tight areas and for mowing yards, working around buildings, cleaning stalls or moving materials. They are easy to use, even for novice tractor operators.

Manual tractors are a good choice for PTO-demanding work. They deliver better PTO efficiency and work well in large, open areas doing jobs that include straight-line mowing, cultivating, spraying seeding or broadcast spreading.

Hydrostatic Transmission

Bobcat Hydrostatic Compact Tractor Transmission

The hydrostatic transmission (HST) provides maximum ease of use and fast, simple direction changes, making it extremely effective for frequent front-end loader work, mowing or maneuvering in wooded areas while clearing brush. A hydrostatic transmission uses hydraulic pressure to change your speed, to operate similar to a vehicle. You’ll only need to stop moving if you want to change your range.

A simple twin-pedal design enables quick and easy direction changes: One pedal moves you forward, the other moves you in reverse.

Its ease of operation also makes it a good choice for novice drivers.

2-range HST tractors offer Low and High ranges, while the 3-range HST models offer Low, Medium and High ranges, for an infinite number of variations of speed and torque within a range.

2-range HST available on models CT1021 and CT1025.

3-range HST available on models CT2025, CT2035, CT2040, CT2535, CT2540, CT4045, CT4050 and CT4058.

Manual 9x3 Shift Transmission

Bobcat Compact Tractor With Manual Transmission

This economical, reliable manual-shift transmission requires you to stop to change between nine forward gears and three reverse gears. It’s the classic tractor transmission that many people remember from growing up on the farm. It works well for jobs that require a constant speed, such as mowing, tilling or spraying. Second and reverse gears are synchronized to facilitate loader usage, though it’s not recommended if you intend to do a lot of digging and loading.

It efficiently handles PTO-demanding work.

Available on models CT2025, CT2035 and CT2040.

Manual 8x8 Synchro Shuttle Transmission

Bobcat Compact Tractor With Manual Synchro Shuttle Transmission

For shift-on-the-fly functionality that is the most similar to a stick-shift automobile, the 3-range synchro shuttle transmission allows you to clutch and shift across eight forward and eight rear speeds as you travel. It provides ease of use if you prefer a manual transmission, and it delivers great performance when moving up and down fields or traveling longer distances in one direction.

It efficiently handles PTO-demanding work.

Available on models CT4045, CT4050 and CT4055.

Electronic Hydrostatic Transmission (E-HST)

Bobcat E-HST Compact Tractor Transmission

E-HST offers the simplicity and ease of direction change you get with HST – plus the electronic acceleration provides near-effortless input on the travel pedal to control your speed. It works like an automatic transmission in a car. It also includes true cruise control, to keep you moving at a constant speed. Even when driving up a slope, there’s no need to adjust the travel pedal to maintain your compact tractor’s momentum.

Extra functionality with this transmission option includes an electronic linked pedal, speed limit switch and an anti-stall function that enables you to prevent engine stall during high-load operation.

Available on models CT5545, CT5550, CT5555 and CT5558.
